Two people were taken to hospital in critical condition after a house fire in east Windsor early Friday morning.
Windsor Fire and rescue services responded to the blaze at 6501 Thornberry Cres. around 1 a.m.
Firefighters removed a 21-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man from the apartment building, both with serious injuries.
The woman was transferred to a Hamilton hospital, while her boyfriend remained in intensive care at Windsor Regional Hospital.
Other tenants were evacuated until the fire was extinguished and smoke was vented out of the building.
The Windsor police arson squad and a representative from the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal were called in to investigate.
Police say it is routine for the arson squad to investigate when there are serious injuries in a fire.
