A 52-year-old Windsor man has been charged with impaired driving after police say he was driving in the wrong lane in Chatham-Kent.

Around 2:43 a.m. on Wednesday, Chatham-Kent OPP responded to a complaint of a vehicle traveling in the wrong lane on Grand Avenue East.

The vehicle was almost involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle.                 

Police say the vehicle was located stopped and while speaking with the driver, the officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver was transported to the detachment for further tests.  

As a result, the driver, Timothy Weaver, 52, of Windsor has been charged with driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired and driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood.

The accused is required to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 16 to answer to the charges.
