After dropping a bombshell announcement overseas regarding Chrysler’s investment in Windsor, Sergio Marchionne will be back on home soil.

The Fiat-Chrysler CEO is expected in Sterling Heights Friday to celebrate the production of the 2015 Chrysler 200.

Originally slated for closure in 2010, the assembly plant was given a $1-billion investment to transform its entire facility.

The opening falls on the heels of the CEO announcing he was backing out of talks with the provincial and the federal governments in Canada – instead investing the company's own money to build the minivan at Windsor Assembly.

Union leaders locally have not been able to meet with company officials to discuss the future of the plant.
