Windsor police rescued a man clinging to a metal break wall in the Detroit River.

Officers were called to the waterfront in the area of 11800 Riverside Drive East in relation to a marine emergency on Sunday around 9:15 a.m.

Police received information that a male had jumped into the Detroit River.

Officers attended the area and a citizen observed the male clinging to the metal break wall. 

Police spoke to nearby cooperative homeowners who let officers utilized their kayaks. 

Windsor Fire and EMS both arrived to assist. 

EMS illuminated officers with spot lights as they approached the male with a life jacket.  

Officers helped the male stay safe until helped arrived.  

Nearby citizens in a boat observed this and came over to assist officers in getting the male on board and back to the rear break wall.

 EMS subsequently transported the male to hospital for treatment.
