The Ontario government says a new initiative will create 30,000 jobs opportunities for youth across the province.

The Youth Jobs Strategy is a $295-million investment over two years to help people ages 15 to 29 find work.

Premier Kathleen Wynne says the strategy creates four new funds to help young people across the province find work, build job skills and start their own business.

"It is so important to me that young people get all the support they need as they develop their skills and enter Ontario’s workforce,” said Wynne in a release. “And I know the Youth Jobs Strategy will go a long way toward setting them up for success for years to come."

The four funds are the Youth Skills Connections Fund, the Ontario Youth Innovation Fund, the Ontario Youth Entrepreneurship Fund, and the Ontario Youth Employment Fund.

Youth unemployment in Ontario is 16.4 per cent, twice as high as the overall unemployment rate at 7.5 per cent.
