Fifty-eight full and part time Essex County library workers will hold a supervised vote Tuesday in a bid to end their 171 day strike.

A returning officer from the Ontario Labour Relations Board will supervise the vote from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Essex Arena.

The Essex County library board tabled what it called its “final offer” after talks with a provincial mediator lasted only eight hours on Nov. 25.

CUPE 2974 spokesperson Lori Wightman says the board did fix the issue of part-timers not qualifying for sick leave.

But she tells CTV News she is “fully confident that the members will reject the offer.”
