Owners of new businesses in Windsor’s core have a chance to get half their rent paid for a year.

It’s part of the commercial rent subsidy program, launched by the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association on Tuesday.

The program enables up to eight businesses a year to fill previously unoccupied buildings with new commercial ventures.

"The goal of the program is to stimulate and enhance economic development and introduce new diversified services within the DWBIA's boundaries," says DWBIA Chair Larry Horwitz.

The DWBIA will subsidize up to 50 per cent of the successful applicant's rent each month for a year, up to a maximum of $625 per month.

Applicants must represent the commercial sector in an eligible business area. Application forms are available on the DWBIA website.
