The federal government is giving Windsor International Airport $827,738 for three safety improvement projects.

The money will go towards an airport rescue and firefighting truck, electronic runway condition reporting equipment and a snow plow blade.

The fire truck is expected to improve emergency response capability at the airport. The other equipment will help provide clear and safe runways.

“These funds are essential to supporting our operations and ensure greater and safe service,” says Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis.

The Windsor airport has received over $5.7 million for 11 projects through the Airports Capital Assistance Program.
