Hundreds of working, laid off and retired Ford workers piled into the Caboto Club Sunday morning looking for answers as to why the company will build its new engine in Mexico and not Windsor.

Responses from union members was not surprising.

"We're totally in shock."

"We got screwed."

"It's like a smack in the face."

"There's more to it that we will never know."

"When were are competing with jurisdictions from Mexico that are willing to work at $5 an hour, obviously the government knows we can't compete on that level," says Unifor Local 200 President Chris Taylor.

Many employees say the provincial and federal government need to take responsibility.

"The government should be stepping up, giving more than 10% on each side, it should be more like 50-60 per cent to help get these jobs landed in the city," says one Ford worker.

Currently, 470 people work for Ford in Windsor, 480 are currently laid off.
