A 30-year-old man has been charged with possession of meth and uttering counterfeit money at a Tim Hortons in Chatham.

Police say the man ordered a drink and a donut at the Tim Horton’s on Lacroix Street Sunday afternoon around 1:30 p.m.

He attempted to pay with a $10 U.S. bill. The cashier immediately identified the bill as being counterfeit and notified police.

Officers went to the Tim Hortons and he was taken into custody.

Police say when he was searched, the man was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

The 30-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with uttering counterfeit money, breach of probation and drug possession. He has been held pending a bail hearing.
