Environment Canada has ended  a severe thunderstorm warning for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.

A severe thunderstorm system the weather authority warned about earlier Tuesday afternoon, reached the region around 5 p.m. bringing strong winds, heavy rain and lots of lightning.

The storm brought down branches, trees and hydro lines. One person is in critical condition in hospital after a tree fell, while he was walking on a sidewalk in downtown Windsor.

Environment Canada has also ended a heat warning. For a second straight day, officials the alert, as temperatures edge closer to the 40 C mark with the added humidex.

This extreme heat could have proved dangerous to older adults, infants, children and those with chronic illness should remain cool and stay hydrated.
