A Chatham-Kent OPP officer suffered minor injuries after his cruiser rolled over while trying to conduct a traffic stop.

Police say it happened just after 9 p.m. on Monday on Park Avenue. The officer says a vehicle was approaching him at a high rate of speed and entered his lane of travel.

The officer followed the vehicle in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop.

The vehicle turned westbound onto Pioneer Line and the officer followed. Police say moments later, the officer’s cruiser left the roadway, rolled over several times and came to rest in a nearby field.

The vehicle in question continued westbound on Pioneer Line.

The officer was transported to hospital and released.

Chatham-Kent police are conducting the investigation and would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision.
