A resident at Brentwood Recovery Home was surprised when a lovebird landed his shoulder Monday morning and now employees are searching for its owner.

“The bird landed on his shoulder and made itself at home," says Jamie Lewenza, a Brentwood employee.

Mara Alexander, another Brentwood worker, admits it was almost love at first sight.

“Lightened up my day,” says Alexander. “I feel the love."

Employees knew right away, this was not a wild bird and that it had, literally flown the coop.

“I know he's missing his home,” says Lewenza. “Whoever had him loved him you can tell how much he loves people."

Lewenza immediately tried to help out, first making the bird feel safe and comfortable.

“I started feeding the bird cereal,” says Lewenza.

In no time, the brightly coloured lovebird had made itself at home.

While the office would love a new mascot, they know the lost lovebird is probably missing his owner. For now, it seems this little bird was lost in the right place at the right time.

Everyone at Brentwood is hoping this love story will have a happy ending. They're putting an ad on Kijiji to help find the bird’s owner.
