Windsor police are crediting a witness for helping catch a man who allegedly stole a cart full of toys from Toys 'R' Us Inc.
Officers were called to the toy store on Howard Avenue around 12 p.m. Wednesday.
A worker told police she was approached by a customer who told her that a man was stealing a shopping cart full of merchandise.
The witness then told officers she saw a man acting suspiciously at the entrance doors with the full cart. She took a picture of the suspect on her cell phone.
Officers recognized the man and later found him at a downtown hotel as he left a room.
The merchandise was recovered and returned to the store.
The Toys R Us employee also provided officers with video surveillance footage. Police say it showed the entire theft and the suspect leaving the store without making any attempt to pay.
Cary Carriere, 44, is charged with theft.
