Amherstburg homeowner Mike Lucier is getting fed up with all the rain.

Lucier says since 2010 his street has flooded six times, and his home twice.

The first time resulted in a $70,000 insurance claim.

However, this time the damage is yet to be determined. “ I have a state of the art sump pump system which pumps 250 gallons per minute and it was doing just fine.”

The owner of a disaster restoration company expects a busy day.

Jim Parker of Parker construction says after a rainstorm he’s flooded with calls. “The volume of water we are getting now, and the storms we have having now is going to be the norm.”

Environment Canada lifted a severe thunderstorm watch last evening.

The agency says a Canwarn trained weather spotter measured about 75 millimetres of rain near Belle River in Essex County late Wednesday afternoon.

And unofficially, in the four hours leading up to 6 p.m. about 63.5 millimetres were measured in Essex County.

Environment Canada is calling for sun and clouds for Thursday and no rain.
