A $100,000 cheque was presented to a Tecumseh elementary school today.
Staff from Tecumseh Vista Academy accepted the amount from the Aviva Community Fund Competition at a special ceremony Tuesday afternoon.
The school pitched a proposal for an outreach program to work with such partners as the Town and the conservation authority.
The school hopes to plant more community gardens to help food banks and build an accessible pathway to a nearby nursing home.
A total of 13 grand prize winners from across the country will share one-million dollars from the charitable arm of Aviva Insurance Company.
