As CTV Windsor reported over the weekend, a puppy thought to be at risk of leaving the province because of its breed, will be able to stay in the community.

Menlanie Coulter of the Windsor-Essex Humane Society says a DNA test has been performed and the pup is a bulldog-basset hound mix. Coulter was concerned Coco was a pitbull, which is a banned breed in Ontario.

Coco was severely injured when she arrived at the shelter in early May, but has since undergone surgery and has been given the all clear.

As a result, the seven-month-old puppy can stay and is available for adoption.
