A severely injured puppy is recovering after being brought to the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society with a completely fractured back leg.

Seven-month-old Coco arrived at the humane society on May 5. She will soon undergo surgery to correct the problem.

There may be an additional hurdle, as Coco’s appearance indicates she may be a breed of dog which is banned in Ontario. DNA testing is underway to determine her breed.

If it falls under a restrictive breed, the humane society will have to move Coco to another province, where she’ll be entered into an adoption program. However, the humane society says it could be a costly move.
