Production is expected to be up and running by the end of the week at Tecumseh’s Bonduelle plant, days after a massive fire ripped through the facility.
Large machinery, including excavators could be seen Monday morning at the Bonduelle plant site, located in the 1100 block of Lacasse Boulevard. The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has officially wrapped up its on scene investigation, but a cause of the blaze is still unknown.
The fire broke out early Friday morning, and kept fire crews busy for hours. Hot spots persisted through the weekend.
Some production is expected to kick back up by Wednesday. A meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday afternoon, where Bonduelle will speak with full time employees about the short term future of the plant.
Some employees were back to work on Sunday, cleaning the processing area. The company, along with fire officials believe the majority of the damage was confined to a warehouse.
Damage is estimated to be in the 10s of millions of dollars.
