Officers were called out to a residence on Oxley Drive in Chatham for a suspicious person complaint about 10:30 Sunday night.

A woman told police she saw a man peering at her through the window.

Police say the woman provided authorities with a physical description of the suspect as they are known to each other through a mutual friend.

Police were able to identify the man.

Just before midnight a patrol officer saw the suspect driving and pulled over the vehicle for a traffic stop.

The officer discovered the driver was suspended from operating a motor vehicle for unpaid fines.

The officer also noticed a strong odour of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, and a bag containing approximately two grams of marijuana was seized.

The vehicle was towed from the roadway.

A 22-year-old Chatham man is facing a number of charges including voyeurism, criminal harassment, driving while under suspension and drug possession.

He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
