The Rose City will see new and old faces at Windsor city hall for the next four years.

With Drew Dilkens’ successful bid for Windsor mayor, his seat in Ward 1 was up for the grabs on Monday night. Seven candidates entered the fray to capture the seat, but it was Fred Francis, the younger brother of out-going Mayor Eddie Francis, who would win with 36.6 per cent of the unofficial vote.

Ryan Mancini was the runner up with 29.3 per cent of the unofficial vote.

Another vacated seat was in Windsor’s Ward 2. Incumbent Ron Jones announced early on that he would not be seeking re-election. John Elliot, who lost to Jones four years ago by three votes, clenched the seat with 36.6 per cent. Frank Favot was a close second with 30.5 per cent of the unofficial vote.

Rino Bortolin captured the Ward 3 seat in a very close race with Gabe Maggio. The unofficial vote has Bortolin taking 39.4 per cent of the ballots cast. Maggio wasn’t far behind with 33.4 per cent. The seat was without an incumbent, with long-time councillor Fulvio Valentinis not seeking re-election.

Ward 4 saw Chris Holt win with 28.6 per cent of the unofficial vote. Windsor Eats mastermind Adriano Ciotoli was the runner up with 24.5 per cent. Incumbent Alan Halberstadt didn’t run.

It was a runaway win for Ward 5 incumbent Ed Sleiman, bringing in 57.3 per cent of the unofficial vote. Gary Kaschak was the closest runner up with 10.2 per cent.

It was a similar scene in Ward 6. Incumbent Jo-Anne Gignac won with 69.9 per cent of the unofficial vote.  Alex Denonville came second with 17.7 per cent.

Incumbent Irek Kusmierczyk won with over half the vote in Ward 7, coming in at 50.8 per cent. However, Angelo Marignani wasn’t far behind with 34.8 per cent.

Bill Mara retained his seat in Ward 8 with an overwhelming 77.3 per cent of the unofficial vote.  His only competitor, Heather Burton captured 22.7 per cent.

It was a close race in Ward 9, but it would be incumbent Hilary Payne beating out runner-up Kieran McKenzie. Payne secured his victory with 30.7 per cent of the unofficial vote. McKenzie was close with 27.4 per cent.

The only incumbent to not retain his seat was Ward 10’s Al Maghnieh. Voters instead turned to Paul Borrelli as their new councillor, giving him 28.4 per cent of the vote. Jim Morrison was the runner up with 25.1 per cent.
