Drew Dilkens has been elected as mayor of Windsor.
After a long election battle, Windsor voters have selected Dilkens as the new leader of the Rose City.
Unofficial election results show the former Ward 1 councillor earned 32,271 votes, easily beating the other front runners on Monday.
“We know what direction the residents chose for our city,” Dilkens told supporters in his victory speech at the Caboto Club. “They want to continue building on our success.”
John Millson collected 15,848 votes and Larry Horwitz had 7,293. There were nine other candidates.
Dilkens says many residents voted based on the previous council’s track record.
“We purposely chose to run a positive campaign, to highlight the progress we’ve made,” says Dilkens.
