Former Prime Minister and Windsorite Paul Martin will serve as a special advisor to the province, as they work on an Ontario pension plan.

Martin will work alongside Ontario’s Minister of Finance, Charles Sousa, as they hash out a made-in-Ontario enhanced retirement security plan.

“Paul Martin will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience as we work towards ensuring that future generations have a more secure retirement,” said Sousa in a statement.

Martin acted as federal finance minister in 1997, where he played a role in Canadian Pension Plan reform.

Fewer than 35 per cent of Ontario employees have a workplace-pension.
