Those black piles of petcoke along the Michigan side of the Detroit River are officially gone.

A ship hauled away the last remaining piles of petroleum coke.

It comes a week after Detroit mayor Dave Bing ordered Detroit Bulk Storage to remove all the petcoke by August 27th.

Over the course of the past six-months Windsor residents and politicians have spoken about the perceived environmental and health impact the by-product of the Alberta oil sands was having on the area.
