Windsor Regional Hospital is launching a campaign to help ensure a patient is properly identified.

The "It takes 2 to know it’s you" campaign is intended to prevent medical errors, testing errors, wrong person procedures and the discharge of infants to the wrong families.

Professional staff, nursing staff and other allied health providers are asked to do a second check-off by asking the patient to repeat their name or birthdate.

Organizers say the consistency and repetitive use of checking an armband and/or asking the patient to give their name or birthdate can improve patient safety. Health care professionals are required to check the two different identifiers for each patient.

Staff members rolled out the campaign on by handing out wristbands to staff at the entrance of Met Campus and Tayfour Campus on Friday.
