A family of five has finally been able to go home thanks to the kindness of strangers after being forced out by a devastating mould infestation in August 2013.

The Jamieson family's house on Acorn Crescent was nearly destroyed by mould, but that's when The Baeumler Family Foundation (BFF), in partnership with Lowe's Home Improvement and Timberland Homes, stepped in to help.

Contractor services were donated by The Baeumler Group and Timberland Homes, and materials were donated by Lowe's and its partners.

The restoration is estimated to have taken over 500 volunteer man hours, and $35,000 in donated materials and furnishings.

The newly restored home was officially unveiled the family on Monday, who were able to see it for the first time since renovations began in October.

TV personality Bryan Baeumler and Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis were among the officials at the unveiling and a public celebration was being held Monday afternoon at Lowe's Windsor.

BFF provides renovations for children and families in need of accessibility, safety, and security in order to create a nurturing and positive environment in the home.

In a statement Baeumler and his wife Sarah said they "are thankful to Lowe's, Timberland, and local community volunteers, family and friends for helping to bring this project to fruition. [And] look forward to welcoming the Jamieson family back to their home with a fresh start in 2014."
