A 52-year-old man pulled over for speeding told police he had just washed his car and was trying to dry it out.
Chatham-Kent OPP say he was going 143 km/hour in a posted 80 km/hour zone on Highway 40 just south of Fairview Line Wednesday morning.
OPP officers say when they pulled him over he admitted that he had just washed his vehicle and was in the process of trying to dry it out.
“It’s these types of preventable actions that cause injury and death on our roadways,” says traffic and marine inspector Ian Chappell.
John Corriveau, 52, from Chatham was charged with stunt driving.
The minimum fine for stunt driving, if convicted, is $2,000 and an automatic drivers licence suspension for seven days.
