Police probe possible drownings near Sandpoint Beach

Police in Windsor are probing the "possible drowning deaths" of two people in the area of Sandpoint Beach on the city’s east side.

Police took to social media at 8:44 p.m. on Thursdsay to report officers were investigating the possible drowning deaths of two people near the beach.

Speaking with CTV News at the scene, Const. Bianca Jackson said, "And what occurred here is there's three individuals that had gone on the outskirts of Sanpoint beach to go swimming. And what happened was two got swept under. We are on location right now investigating this. We have Windsor police marine unit we have our patrol officers we have our drone. We have the US Coast Guard, we have the Canadian Coast Guard. We have basically all hands on deck searching for these two individuals. And that's all I have at this point," said Jackson

She added that police are searching for, "Two East Indian males in their early 20s. They will have just their swim trunks on."

Sandpoint is found in the 10000-block of Riverside Drive East.

Police are urging any residents or witnesses in the area who may be able to help with the investigation to call 911 immediately.
