Windsor West MP Brian Masse was in Detroit Friday, making his case before U.S. Homeland Security to pay for the customs inspection plaza stateside for a new international bridge.

Ottawa has committed paying $300 million for the plaza, but according to Masse, there's no obligation on the part of Washington to pay back that amount.

Detroit Democratic Congressman Gary Peters organized a meeting with homeland secretary and other key players, including Masse.

Masse says Homeland Security listened and talked about the importance of the project, but didn't make a commitment.
