There will be no charges after an attack that led to the death of a small dog, say police.
The owner of the larger dog in the incident called and spoke to Windsor police officers.
He said that a family member was walking the dog at the time and they didn't realize the injuries to the small dog were so severe.
Police say all information will be forwarded to the city’s bylaw department.
On Feb. 2, officers went to the home of a woman who says her small dog died after being attacked by a larger dog in the 400 block of Giles Blvd.
Police put out a request for the large dog owner to come forward on Tuesday.
The woman told police she was walking her dog in the 400 block of Giles Boulevard West at 4:30 p.m., when it was suddenly attacked by a larger dog, possibly a Bull Mastiff-mix with short brown/beige hair.
She was able to pull her dog away and shield him from any further attack. The person with the large dog was also able to pull the other dog away.
The woman say the small dog sustained serious bite related injuries to his torso so the complainant brought him to an animal hospital but he succumbed to his injuries and died.
