A 12-hour standoff in south Walkerville ended early Wednesday morning, when a man and woman exited an apartment and were placed under arrest.
Just before 3 a.m., Windsor police say the pair exited an apartment building in the area of Gladstone Avenue and Tecumseh Road East. It follows lengthy talks with the man, who barricaded himself within the building.
A search inside of the apartment led police to the discovery of a sawed-off shotgun.
CTV Windsor reporter Rich Garton was at the scene through the night.
Officers were called to the area around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, where they arrested two men. Police say a number of stolen goods were also recovered. However, investigators say the situation quickly escalated, when a third man retreated into the building,
Windsor police deployed multiple units, including the emergency services unit, K9 unit, the explosive disposal unit and the mobile command centre.
Police closed Tecumseh Road East between Lincoln Road and Moy Avenue for several hours. The roadway has since reopened.
The accused are expected to be arraigned in a Windsor court on Wednesday.
