Windsor police say a domestic dispute led to a 42-year-old man being charged with kidnapping and attempted murder.
Investigation has revealed that the incident began with a domestic dispute at their residence in the 3700 block of Montcalm on July 12.
Police say a woman was kidnapped by a man who was known to her and taken out of the city by vehicle. She was able to make her escape from the vehicle off Highway 401 near Ingersoll, Ont., and the police were contacted.
The suspect was subsequently arrested at a truck stop in Woodstock with the assistance of both the OPP and the Woodstock Police Service, in the early morning hours on Wednesday.
Thomas Manuel, 42, from Windsor is charged with attempted murder, assault, forcible confinement, uttering threats, assault with a weapon x2, choking, kidnapping.
He is scheduled to appear in court on July 20.
Detectives from the Major Crime Branch continue to investigate and officers are canvassing the immediate area for witnesses.
