Windsor police are crediting a DNA hit for helping identify a suspect after a pharmacy break and enter.
Officers were called to the break-in at a pharmacy in the 100 block of Park Street West on May 9.
Investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly smashed the front door window, gained entry into the business, took some property and fled the scene.
Investigators from the Forensic Identification Unit obtained blood DNA evidence from the scene and sent it to the Centre of Forensic Science for analysis and comparison.
Members of the Target Base Unit also continued to investigate the incident.
On July 5, officers received information from the Centre of Forensic Science indicating that the DNA seized from the scene had a hit on the National DNA Database for a suspect in Windsor.
Investigators also found that the suspect has conditions to remain in his residence between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m.
On July 6, officers from the Target Base Unit located the suspect in the 600 block of Victoria and placed him under arrest.
James Westlake, 32, from Windsor is charged with break and enter and commit theft and breach of probation.
