A Graduate Student Society referendum on a proposed University of Windsor sports centre was handled correctly according to the chief returning officer.
April Adams says she followed GSS rules - giving 16 days’ notice for the vote on the $73-million complex.
The society's constitution requires a minimum 14-days’ notice.
As well, she says material was posted, a town hall was held, organizers went on the campus radio station and there was a 24 per cent turn out - the highest GSS has on record.
Adams says the GSS continues reviewing a complaint by Mohammad Akbar that there wasn't enough time for discussion, but adds Akbar isn't currently a U of W student.
"So the e-mails and information were strictly brought to the students of GSS - so they didn't go out to other students other than GSS," says Adams.
Adams is confident the results will stand and there’ll be no need for another vote, as 457 eligible students voted yes to a fee to pay for the centre and 290 voted no.
