A fire in Chatham-Kent on Friday night resulted in $100,000 in damages to a home.
Chatham-Kent emergency services were called to a residence on Colborne Street at 10:15 p.m.
The fire was fully developed when two crews arrived. Another station was also called in to assist and check the surrounding area.
Embers were blowing onto the WISH Centre on King Street and houses on either side of the residence.
An aerial ladder was brought in to apply water from above due to the severe and difficult conditions.
Firefighters remained on scene for 12 hours, calling in heavy equipment to help make the building safe and to allow small pockets of fire and hotspots to be dealt with.
More than 20 firefighters dealt with the incident supported by police, EMS and gas and hydro engineers. Firefighters will be maintaining a watch on the scene tothis weekend to check for further hotspots and will be visiting residences in the area to offer advice, reassurance and guidance on Home Fire Safety over the weekend.
