The University of Windsor and the union representing nearly1, 000 faculty members have agreed to participate in an exploratory meeting with the province.

Administration says they were contacted by the provincial mediator on Thursday, and was asked if they would be willing to attend a meeting with the Windsor University Faculty Association later this month.

UWindsor has since responded by saying they are prepared to participate in meetings either on Sept. 23 or Sept. 25.

WUFA president Anne Forest says while she is pleased by the univeristy's decision, a one day strike on Monday will still take place. She says the union needs to keep applying pressure to get administration back to the bargaining table.

Talks between the university and WUFA broke down in July, when a negotiated contract couldn’t be reached. WUFA members have been without a contract since July 3.
