The Memorial Cup Champion Windsor Spitfires are set to open training camp.

The Spitfires will have 11 returning players, including 2017 NHL draft picks Gabe Vilardi and Michael DiPietro.

They will be joined by a crop of recent OHL draft picks and free agents who hope to crack the 2017-18 Spitfires roster.

The camp will open Monday Aug. 28 at 9 a.m. with team practice, followed by scrimmages at the WFCU Centre. All sessions will be open to the public.

The Spits will play Flint, North Bay and Peterborough in a showcase tournament in Buffalo from Sept. 1 to Sept. 3.

The Spitfires will be led behind the bench by Trevor Letowski, who replaces Rocky Thompson as the Head Coach, after Thompson was hired as the Coach for Las Vegas’ American League Hockey team in Chicago.
