On Wednesday the province announced breast cancer, multiple myeloma and testicular cancer will be added immediately, with prostate, lung and skin cancer being phased in by 2017.
The province already covers bladder and brain cancer, as well as certain types of leukemia.
The extension will be retroactive to Jan. 1, 1960 and applies to full-time, part-time, volunteer firefighters and fire investigators.
