The Police Act hearing of a suspended Windsor officer will move forward this summer, despite the defence's request to have the case delayed.

A lawyer for Const. David Bshouty asked for an adjournment until after the criminal trial, saying the move would minimize possible damages against Bshouty in his criminal case.

The request was denied.

Bshouty faces a dozen charges under the police act stemming from four separate investigations, including illegal substances allegedly found in his locker and accusations that he failed to report to Windsor police after his release from U.S. custody.

Bshouty had been charged with drug possession by American authorities. Those charges were dropped.

The suspended constable still faces criminal charges in Windsor of trafficking a controlled substance while under suspension.

The police act hearing will go ahead Aug. 10.
