Essex OPP are investigating an armed robbery at a Tecumseh gas station.

Around 7:40 p.m. on Saturday night, police say a man and a woman, both wearing winter coats with fur trimmed hoods, entered the Petro Canada gas station on Highway 3 in Tecumseh, with their faces covered.

The man, who was allegedly armed with a knife, demanded cash, while the female filled a shopping bag with cigarettes. OPP say they fled the scene westbound on Highway 3 in a grey or silver coloured GMC or Chevrolet SUV type vehicle.

Meanwhile, police believe these are the same suspects responsible for a robbery in Windsor on Wednesday. Officers were called out to Fay Mart in the 3300 block of Howard Avenue around 9 p.m. Two people entered the store and demanded cash from the clerk.

They left empty-handed, and no one was hurt. Police are unsure if a weapon was used.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Essex Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police 519-723-2496 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-258-TIPS.
