The province's disaster assessment team is expected to arrive in Essex County on Monday.

Municipal adviser Tim Ryall from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing arrived in the area Friday to speak to officials from Windsor, Tecumseh and Lakeshore about this week's flooding.

Windsor and Tecumseh declared states of emergency on Thursday after heavy rains flooded basements and turned roads into lakes.

Ryall says the team will provide the minister with a report and from there it will be determined if funding will be provided to offset costs not covered by insurance.

Officials said Friday that at least 1,700 households were damaged by flooding
