More than 100 hockey teams from across Windsor, Essex County and Chatham-Kent are participating in a tournament to raise money for The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.

About 1,400 hockey players are suiting up over the holidays in the 19th annual Hockey for Hospice tournament.

Over the past 18 years, these hockey-playing hospice heroes have raised $2 million.

The Hockey for Hospice tournament is being played at the United Communities Credit Union Complex in Amherstburg, Vollmer Recreational Complex in LaSalle, Tecumseh arena and Forest Glade arena in Windsor.

A portion of the money raised will go to the hospice village which provides services to patients and their families dealing with a life altering diagnosis.
