Crews are investigating a gas leak near Goodlife Fitness in Tecumseh.
Tecumseh firefighters were called to the leak at Tecumseh Road and Manning Road on Wednesday morning.
A gas line in the Goodlife parking lot was severed and it was spewing natural gas into the air.
"There is pressure in the pipelines, and when there is a leak, you can hear it, you can see it, and sometimes you can smell it," says Union Gas spokesperson Andrea Stass.
Union Gas workers attended the scene to isolate the flow of gas.
The gym was not evacuated, but OPP blocked traffic on Tecumseh Road, west of Manning Road. It reopened Wednesday afternoon.
This is the third gas leak in the Windsor-Essex County area in three days.
“Unfortunately we do, during construction season, receive calls where pipelines are hit,” says Stass. “This is an unusual number close together, which I believe is coincidental."
