The driver of a tractor-trailer has been charged after travelling east in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Communication Road.
Chatham-Kent OPP responded to a complaint just before midnight on Saturday about a transport driving the wrong way on the highway.
Officers were able to locate and stop the vehicle which was still travelling eastbound on the westbound shoulder of the highway.
Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined that he had crossed the centre median of the highway.
Sukhjinder Mehangar, 26, of Mississauga, Ont. has been charged with careless driving and driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
No one was injured in the incident.
