A Chatham man has been arrested after allegedly stealing mail that contained money.
Canada Post received complaints over the past few months about mail not being delivered. Subsequently, an investigation was launched, which determined a sub-contractor for Canada Post was allegedly skimming money from envelopes.
Canada Post contacted Chatham-Kent police earlier this week for assistance in the investigation. The suspect was arrested and a search of his belongings turned up two pieces of stolen mail.
Darren Hickmott, 46, is charged with two counts of theft of mail and two counts of possessing stolen mail.
He was released with conditions to appear in court.
