A commercial fisherman pulled a grass carp, a species of the invasive Asian carp, from Lake Erie near Point Pelee yesterday.
The fish, which measures almost 98 centimetres in length and weighs over 10 kilograms, was sent to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry for testing.
The MNR will perform surveillance in the area using electrofishing and gill netting to see if there are any additional grass carp in the area.
Ministry officials say they be following up with field work in the area in the near future.
