Customs officers have probably seen people fail to claim all sorts of items coming into the country - but a horse?
A woman was convicted and fined more than $6,000 for willfully evading the payment of duties on a horse at the Ambassador Bridge.
The woman from the Lake Simcoe area entered customs towing a horse trailer in October, 2010.
She declared the horse was of Canadian origin and was returning after a temporary stay stateside.
Officers discovered documents showing that the horse was actually purchased in the U.S. for $125,000.
