A Windsor man, charged in a fatal hit and run crash that killed a three-year-old boy, has been released on bail.
Kenneth Dawson, 56, was released into his sister’s custody on a $5,000 surety after a court appearance on Thursday.
Dawson is charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death and criminal negligence causing death after a crash that killed Kevin Eh Say.
The boy was hit by a green van around 8:40 p.m. on Monday at Wyandotte Street near Bruce Avenue.
Eh Say was rushed to hospital and died about an hour later.
The vehicle was the subject of an extensive search that resulted in numerous tips from the community. It was located Tuesday and Dawson was arrested.
Dawson must live with his sister in the county as part of his bail conditions, and cannot associate with anyone involved in the case. He cannot drive and can’t consume alcohol or drugs.
Dawson will return to court on Aug. 8.
A visitation for Kevin Eh Say is scheduled for the Windsor Chapel funeral home at 1700 Tecumseh Road from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday July 10 at the Ambassador Baptist Church on Manchester Road. A visitation at the church will be held prior at 9:30 a.m. for family and friends.
