Sarnia police say a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old are facing racing charges after a crash on Cardiff Drive near Ascot Circle early Friday.

Officials say the two males were racing when the 16-year-old lost control and his car left the road hitting two cement posts and a transformer box then rolling and coming to rest on its wheels.

After stopping briefly, police say the second driver left the area.

As a result of the crash, police have charged the 16-year-old with racing, issued a seven-day licence suspension and impounded the vehicle.

The 17-year-old driver is facing charges of racing and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

There were no injuries in the collision.

Police are reminding drivers that stunt driving can carry stiff penalties.
