Leamington’s mayor is outraged after racist graffiti was found on Caldwell First Nations signs.
Mayor John Paterson posted on Facebook that “all three of their signs plus several of the smaller ones have been defaced by someone with a total lack of intelligence and morals.”
The words “White Power” were spray painted on the signs.
“Disgusting. I hope this was not done by a Leamington resident and I hope the OPP will be able to track down the person or persons who used such racist language on the Caldwell First Nations property,” said Paterson on Facebook.
Paterson wrote that he has spoken with Chief Hillier. He says she, her council and band members are in talks with the OPP.
OPP say the Essex County Crime Unit is investigating the mischief to property on Bevel Line in Leamington.
Anyone with information on who may have done this, is urged to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
